Implementation plan for the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam's National Green Growth Strategy for 2024-2025

On April 24, 2024, the Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Decision 1202/QD-BGDDT approving the implementation plan for the Ministry of Education and Training's National Green Growth Strategy for 2024–2025.

The implementation plan for the Ministry of Education and Training's National Green Growth Strategy for 2024–2025 will include the following tasks:

(1) Building and improving institutional frameworks and policies:

- Task name: Integrating green growth into strategies, plans, and development programs of higher education towards the goal of PTR0 by 2050.

- Expected outputs:

Integration of green growth content into strategies, plans, and development programs of higher education towards the goal of PTR0 by 2050, including:

+ Vietnam's education development strategy for the period 2021–2030, with a vision to 2045.

+ Network planning for higher education and teacher training for the period 2021–2030 with a vision to 2050.

(2) Communication activities, raising awareness, and enhancing human resources:

- Task name: Enhancing coordination between schools, families, and society to promote education on life skills, the formation of green living styles, consciousness, dedication, and creativity.

- Expected outputs:

+ Communication plan and increased awareness of green growth in the education sector.

+ Directives and guidelines for educational institutions to enhance communication and education on life skills, the formation of green living styles, consciousness, dedication, and creativity for children, students, and learners.

(3) Developing green human resources and jobs:

- Task 1: Directing higher education institutions to review their training programs to consider adding, integrating, and aligning green growth content with the respective characteristics of each field of study; encouraging the establishment of green workforce training programs.

Expected output: directives and guidelines for higher education institutions to review their training programs (to be included in the annual directive or in the guidelines for implementing the curriculum issued by the Ministry of Education and Training).

- Task 2: Training and enhancing the capacity of core teachers of subjects and education activities with additional content and integrating green growth; enhancing the capacity of management officials in building safe, green, clean, and smart school models at all levels of education.

Expected outputs:

+ Training materials to enhance the capacity of core subject teachers and education activities to include additional content and integrate green growth.

+ Guidelines for integrating and aligning green growth education at all levels of education.

+ Training materials to enhance the capacity of management officials in building safe, green, clean, and smart school models at all levels of education.

- Task 3: Training and updating knowledge and skills in green growth management, green economic development, and the digital economy for the teaching staff and education management officials.

Expected output: training materials to enhance the knowledge and skills in green growth management, green economic development, and digital economy for the teaching staff and education management officials.

More details can be found in Decision 1202/QD-BGDDT, which comes into force from April 24, 2024.

The Department of Higher Education, the Department of Secondary Education, the Department of Political Education and Student Affairs, the Bureau of Teachers and Educational Management Officials, in coordination with relevant units, are responsible for implementing the assigned tasks. They are required to report periodically, either quarterly or upon urgent request, to the leadership of the Ministry and submit reports to the Department of Science, Technology, and Environment for consolidation.
