On April 24, 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Official Dispatch 1875/BGDĐT-GDTC regarding the organization of activities to respond to the National Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation Week 2024 in Vietnam .

The annual National Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation Week, initiated by the Prime Minister since 1998, and Official Dispatch 2412/BNN-TL dated April 3, 2024 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on the organization and response to the National Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation Week 2024 with the theme "Ensuring safe clean water, adapting to climate change," the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) provides guidance on the implementation of response activities as follows:

(1) Time: From April 29, 2024, to May 6, 2024, which can be extended until World Environment Day on June 5, 2024, and integrated with major events and holidays on April 30, May 1, and May 7.

(2) Organizing response activities:

- Widely disseminating information through educational media to educate and raise awareness and change the behaviors of students, teachers, management officials, and employees regarding the efficient use and conservation of clean water, environmental sanitation, personal hygiene, and sanitation in schools to improve health and prevent diseases (accompanied by propaganda and response messages).

- Integrating education and propaganda activities on clean water, environmental sanitation, and personal hygiene for students in the main curriculum, educational activities, and extracurricular activities. Effectively implementing the documents issued by the Ministry of Education and Training on clean water and environmental sanitation in schools: Communication and education materials on clean water, personal hygiene, and environmental sanitation for secondary school students; Guidelines for organizing teaching and learning activities on water conservation and protection for primary school students, and Handbook for the use and preservation of clean water facilities and sanitation facilities in schools adapting to climate change.

- Organizing cleaning activities, including sanitation, dredging of drains, waste collection, etc., in and around school areas, involving management officials, teachers, employees, and students.

- Planning to maintain the maintenance activities of clean water facilities and toilets in educational institutions. Inspecting and evaluating the operation of clean water facilities and sanitation facilities in schools to ensure safety, friendliness, and timely handling of risk factors that may affect the health of students.

Based on the specific conditions of each locality and school, organizing activities to respond to the National Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation Week in a practical, efficient, and cost-effective manner, avoiding formalities and waste.
