Secretariat of Vietnam requests removal of “Yellow Card” warning in 2024

This is a content of Directive No. 32-CT/TW dated April 10, 2024 on the intensification of the leadership of the CPV over the combat against illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing (IUU fishing) and the sustainable development of the fishery sector promulgated by the CPV Central Committee.

Specifically, to intensify the combat against IUU fishing and ensure the sustainable development of the fishery sector, the Secretariat of Vietnam requests committees, CPV organizations, authorities, the Vietnamese Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations to focus on successfully carrying out the following tasks: 

- Identifying the combat against IUU fishing as a focal and urgent task with long-term meaning to the sustainable development of the fishery sector; identifying the combat against IUU fishing as the responsibility of the whole political system and society, with committees, CPV organizations, and heads of central and local authorities being the first entities to be directly responsible for leading, directing, creating consensus and synchronization, determining to remove the "Yellow Card" Warning in 2024, and maintaining sustainable results, contributing to socio-economic development; protecting sovereignty over islands and sea; enhancing political and diplomatic relations and the international position of Vietnam.

- Promoting the role of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, mass associations, and press agencies in mobilizing, disseminating, and raising awareness, responsibility, and sense of law observance to promptly detect violations and commend organizations and individuals that successfully implement the guidelines, policies, and laws on the combat against illegal fishing, contributing to the early removal of the "Yellow Card" Warning according to the set objective. 

- Improving the effectiveness of international cooperation, especially cooperation with European countries and the EU, intensifying diplomatic measures, taking advantage of support from relevant parties to aim for the early removal of the “Yellow Card” Warning; preventing fishing vessels and fishermen from committing illegal fishing in foreign sea areas, which affects the relations with relevant countries.
